DDA Summer Intern

The Traverse City Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is seeking interested candidates for its annual summer intern position. The summer intern will be mainly be focused on:  

  • Collecting and organizing data related to the Downtown District (property, building, businesses, job and contact information) to input into a new DDA Retail Response Program. This effort will require the review of public records as well as in-person inquiries and interviews. The intern will use the data to create a model “cut-sheet” for every property in the Downtown as well as a more general “Downtown Cut-Sheet.”
  • General office tasks like answering phones, making graphics/images for special events for community events and other special projects spearheaded by the DDA.
  • Attend meetings with property owners, businesses and monthly DDA Board meetings and City Commission meetings.

Those applying should be familiar with and proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe and other content management programs. 

This position is an excellent opportunity to gain hand-on experience in Downtown, Economic, and Community Development and Urban Planning in one of the most active and vibrant downtowns in Michigan.

The DDA serves as the central catalyst for economic development and placemaking in downtown Traverse City. The DDA collaborates with community stakeholders to provide a world class downtown that is active, thriving, and inclusive. Through investments in sound, sustainable infrastructure and civic amenities, the DDA corrects and prevents deterioration in the Downtown District to encourage historic preservation, to create and implement development plans and to promote economic growth. 

Intern is expected to work from 9:00 to 4:00 Monday through Friday. The start date of this internship is June 7th and runs until August 13th.

Salary would be $19/hour.
