8th Street: Potential DDA Expansion
The North Boardman Lake District Association has approached the Traverse City Downtown Development Authority (DDA) to consider an expansion of the district. The DDA has been working closely with the district for the past year to discuss the potential expansion and planning tools for redevelopment and branding.
The DDA worked with the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation on a branding and planning initiative for the corridor. In June 2019, a report by Perkins & Will was completed and can be found HERE.
The DDA will serve as a catalyst for new economic growth and additional private investment throughout the expanded District. In addition, the DDA will advocate for new investments in public infrastructure and work to implement a strategic and positive vision. Each property owner in the proposals expansion would be assessed an additional 2-mills to support the DDA planning and development efforts.
