Cass/8th St. Intersection Project

On September 18^th, the DDA, in cooperation with the City of Traverse City began reconstruction of the Eighth Street and Cass Street intersection. Work on the intersection should be completed by mid-October, weather dependent. The entire intersection will be closed for construction to help expedite the project. Drivers and pedestrians are encouraged to find alternative routes or use the marked detours (see links below) during construction. Access to all businesses and the Old Town Parking Structure will remain open throughout the duration of the project  

The reconstruction of this critical intersection will include new pavement and pedestrian crosswalks. Once completed, the new intersection will provide for a smoother and more welcoming vehicular and pedestrian-friendly downtown experience.

The DDA is funding the reconstruction of this intersection through Tax Increment Financing (TIF).
